Event description This virtual course runs over two consecutive half day sessions exploring schools’ appraisal cycles and how they can help support the school improvement plan and drive high performance. Participants will gain key skills to enable them to be confident in having open and honest developmental feedback discussions to ensure that robust and meaningful targets and support mechanisms are in place within their school. This course is suitable for any line managers, senior leaders and Governors who are involved in their school’s appraisal process. Participants will leave the course with a clear understanding of how the performance of teachers and support staff links into the appraisal, capability and pay policies and is based on performance related pay.

Applicant cancels 14 days or more prior to the event start date - No Charge

Applicant cancels less than 14 days prior to event start date or fails to attend - Full event/course fee charged
Training objectives The aim of the course is to equip you to understand and feel confident with:

• The link between appraisal, pay and pay progression
• The importance of objective setting, focusing on the School Improvement Plan as well as individual targets, thus enabling the impact of these to not only benefit the school but the employees own CPD
• SMART objective setting
• Conducting effective performance reviews - planning and approach
• Providing developmental feedback as well as addressing performance concerns – having those challenging conversations
• How to coach, develop and challenge the appraisee in an appropriate and constructive manner to achieve the desired outcome
• The roles and responsibilities of the appraiser and appraisee and how the school and appraisers can support staff to achieve their full potential
