Governor Conference: Healthy Curriculum, Healthy Mind

Event code GV 19/170
Event description Our Autumn Governor Conference will include a presentation by Kelly Hannaghan, a Wellbeing Lead from a school in South East London. She has been influential in a whole school wellbeing approach and as a result, the Governing Board have undertaken the Wellbeing Award and changed the ethos of their school. Lessness Heath Primary school has recently been awarded with the Optimus Education Wellbeing Award for Schools, in partnership with the National Children’s Bureau. They were recognised as the first school to achieve this award. Case studies will be shared, showcasing the impact of measurable outcomes for pupils, governors, staff and parents. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the learning for life approach and sustainable strategies in growing a culture of resilience for our future generations.

Peter Bolton, from Kent Music School, will be presenting on how Music is a fundamental part of the lives of so many children and young people but as a subject it is increasingly under pressure in schools. In this session, Peter Bolton, Chief Executive of Kent Music, will draw upon examples and evidence to explore how music can be a driver for school improvement and how music in schools can make a positive contribution to the well-being of students.

The Area Governance Officers will lead a discussion around what the changes to the new curriculum mean to Governors and looking at the strategic vision around this.

We very much look forward to seeing you there, don’t forget you have one free place as part of your Governor Training Service Level Agreement – make sure one of your Board members uses this free place to feedback to the rest of your Governing Board.
